The 2014 Met Gala: Gowns, Pants & Crop Tops, Oh My!

On Monday we saw yet another “fashion prom” come and go. Better known as the Metropolitan Museum of Art’s Costume Institute gala, or Met gala, the yearly event didn’t disappoint. As always, along with glamour and sophistication, weirdness and questionable choices followed. There were those that followed the theme and those that didn’t (such as gala rule-maker herself, Anna Wintour).

This year’s theme was Charles James: Beyond Fashion. Seeing as Charles James was a mid-century designer of iconic ball gowns, you’d expect to see exactly that. There were some ball gowns, but being an unpredictable crowd, there were of course other looks that included pants, short dresses and crop tops.

Not being one to stick to the rules, I actually liked most of the looks that went against the theme. Ball gowns just aren’t my cup of tea, as pretty as they may be (did not mean for that to rhyme, but I’ll go with it). That being said, below are some of the looks seen at this year’s Met gala, in no particular order.

I’ll discuss my top picks in my next post, but in the meantime, who were your favourites? Let me know!

Looks of the Month – July 2012

I just realized, that I haven’t posted in nearly a month. How time flies!

As per usual, I have a large collection of outfit photos that I really liked for this month, of which I’ve only chosen a few to showcase.

PS. Only two months until Fall! I know my fellow fashion lovers will understand the excitement over this next season. Nevertheless, I shall  keep on enjoying the next month and a bit of summer and sun.

Oscars 2012: Best Dressed

Overall, I wasn’t incredibly impressed with the gown choices seen at the Academy Awards this year, although there were a few that managed to make a fashionable entrance. Such as the lovely Michelle Williams in an amazing coral Louis Vuitton gown. She is definitely number one on my list this year, followed by these other very classy ladies (in no particular order):
